An artist whose star has risen rapidly in the underground dance firmament, Michael A provided another moment of magic with his second outing for Proton Music. As we now return to the EP, remixes from a Belgian icon and a rising Russian star take "Symbol" in a new direction.

An artist requiring very little in the way of introduction to the underground dance community, Pole Folder is a man with an extraordinary range of accomplishments to his name. Blazing a trail since 2001, performances behind the decks over fifteen years saw a "Belgium's Best DJ" accolade in 2010, while an unparalleled passion and dedication to his craft saw the formation of the globally renowned Reworck label. Famous for his "Zero Gold" album on John Digweed's Bedrock, the Belgian's forward thinking approach to his music has supplied an array of noteworthy production material featuring on the likes of Mashtronic, Armada and Click Records. In tandem, the Pole Folder sound has regularly featured on US TV shows such as CSI, Nip Tuck and the UK's Channel 4. A multi-instrumentalist with a unique sound, Pole Folder was a Proton Music regular in the label's early days with 2006's "Protected" and 2008's "Radio 101". Now returning to the label for the first time since April 2008, the Pole Folder remix of "Orbital" takes Michael A's deep, hypnotic work and transforms into an intelligent and beautifully crafted laid back interpretation, full of atmospheric effects and head-shaking rhythms. Evolving elegantly, a sumptuous arpeggio filters into audio range, meandering amongst the subtle aural collage surrounding it. Cleverly reinventing original components, the Pole Folder remix is a triumph, reminiscent of Underworld's instrumental work.

A newcomer to underground dance scene, Saultloom has truly found his place with his exciting new project. Centred around production work for Mark Slee and Atish's Manjumasi imprint, May 2017's "Kowtow" EP showcased a stunning trio of original tracks that reinvigorated the deep house genre with remixes from Just Be and Malbetrieb adding further depth. Two months later, "Canoodle" appeared as part of the "Six Swords VA" compilation, further confirming Saultloom's place at the genre's top table. Now making his debut for Proton Music, it is an honour to welcome Saultloom to the label with a marvellous reinterpretation of "Centaur". Elegantly produced, a sonic masterpiece is carved from Michael A's work as organic sounds and glassy free-flowing melodies make a smooth and muted appearance underneath an intricate percussive rhythm section that bristles with complexity and dynamism. Rising and falling with ease, a collage of analogue sounds build to a rousing crescendo at the mid-point breakdown, before the hypnotic melodies and off-beat cadence make their play once more in the third movement.

With remixes from Pole Folder and Saultloom, Michael A's "Symbol" is decoded in scintillating fashion.
