Neapolitan techno powerhouse Unrilis delivers a brand new EP from Gaetano Parisio in the form of Needing Chords. Up there with the likes of Adam Beyer, Ben Sims and Marco Carola as one of the premier exponents of European techno, Parisios reputation is backed up by an enviable discography and touring schedule.
Needing Chords, backed by a remix from another Neapolitan legend in Rino Cerrone, is a heavy-set, muscular techno-workout which builds with unbridled intensity.
Cerrones remix is considerably more stripped but loses none of the originals power. Moodier and with a sinister edge, its an interpretation which provides an exciting slant on the original.
The skippy funk of Fake Stuff follows and does so with a playful urgency. Threaded with a snaking white noise motif that ebbs and flows under staccato keys, it¹s hugely hypnotic
while not loosing its groove.
Finally, its the trippy synths of Program Meanings that close the EP. Heavily layered the track constantly and fluidly shifts with filters revealing new combinations of layers throughout while a funk licked bassline and heavy drums do the rest.
