Experimental dancefloor. Two words that are difficult to combine effectively, but when an artist knows the magic recipe, something very powerful can happen. San Francisco's Selande (aka Cullen Miller) clearly understands the overlapping of these two words' worlds. This full length album displays Miller's unique sense of sonics, rhythm, and musicality. The textures are crisp yet dubby, and the musical inventiveness he displays never overpowers the ability of the track to set a mood and get the head nodding. This is the sound of someone who likes weird noises, yet understands how to use them to greatest physical (danceable) effect.
Selande's sound displays a tension between grinding dirty textures and a clean sense of structure. Like our previous release by Ten and Tracer, there is a balance here between the unsettling and the gorgeous. Clever but visceral, just the way we like it.
Konque continues its mission to bring you the most unique and tasteful new electronic music, regardless of genre. We're proud to offer you Selande's Metallic Salmon.
