Next to grace us with a release here at BumpCut Records are Italian duo M.F.S: Observatory. Frequently featured on our sister Roushlabel, they now deliver a bumper package including three originals and a remix from the increasingly-popular YINGYANG (UK) & Ren Phillips. Opening the release, the title track 'House 51' encompasses everything we envisioned our label sound to be right from the very start. Bumpy, house-tinted beats with hints of garage influence and heaps of character. This bouncing, quirky groover delivers exactly that, inspiring a definite two-step in the process. Watch out for that piano, it'll get ya! 'Deeper' takes things down a pacier path, with high energy from the very first beat. Leaning more towards the realm of tech house with thumping drums, shuffled rhythm, scattered snares and a subtle level of vocal presence throughout. The track sports a hint of rave and a hefty low-end that will blow you over if you're not ready for it. Carrying on with the more tech house flavoured tracks, 'Smile' injects a little bit of tribal and soul into the party with vicious intent. Its unique blend of rolling rhythm and Motown-inspired vocals are topped off nicely with consistent, rumbling, low-frequencies. One for the peak hours, for sure. Last, but not least, YINGYANG (UK) & Ren Phillips deliver their remix of 'House 51'. As with many of their other productions, the emphasis is based on building a vibe around percussion and the track retains a certain element of funkiness from start to finish. The duo, notably cutting their teeth in the UK scene with their distinctive sound, deliver a standout remix full of personality and creative ideas. Keep an eye out for these two, they're going to have a great 2019! M.F.S: Observatory's 'House 51' EP (Inc. YINGYANG (UK) & Ren Phillips Remix) is proudly presented by BumpCut Records.
