Keeping up the pace after a string of eclectic yet equally worthy releases, Soundspace Records are delighted to present to you the fifth instalment in our catalogue. An all-German affair, this episode sees TOYS Berlin’s CutOff!CutOff! and ASA 808 take the knife to the two barnstorming techno-electro blends that made up our third project – The Fine Lines EP by label co-owner Peter Gibney. Both tunes were crying out for a re-interpretation, and we’re very fortunate to have two of Germany’s most exciting and forward thinking taste-makers on remix duty.

Up first we have ASA 808’s take on the title track. Very much in the same vein as the ambient club fodder on his recent EP for George Fitzgerald’s ManMakeMusic, this slow-burning masterpiece is certain to be doing the rounds for months to come. Chattering percussion keep the groove while a spectacularly wide Reese bassline works its magic over the original’s distinctive synth lines, spacey techno at its finest.

Next up is ASA 808’s longstanding partner in crime and the man responsible for our debut release in the Numbers & Electricity EP, CutOff!CutOff!. More direct in its approach and less easily associated to its original than the track before it; this remix has been crafted with one place in mind. This acid-flecked monster manages to capture the original’s dancefloor momentum while giving it a measure of transient elegance – no small feat.

A fine EP from two producers operating at the forefront of the Berlin underground, you’re certain to be hearing more from this dynamic duo in years to come. Not only is this project a fine addition to our burgeoning catalogue but also the perfect embodiment of our cause – shining light upon the most ambitious and deserving music around.
