Portuguese DJ and producer Ricardo Cardoso aka Ritz is back at Piston Recordings, in fine form as usual, with his latest offering titled Bronx 476.9625 EP. Aside from contributing several tracks on our compilations, Ritz has also delivered a series of quality cuts for us over the years, including his last effort, Daily Routine EP. Ricardo got the electronic music bug in the mid 90's after visiting clubs such as Climacz and Alcantara-Mar. He quickly got into Deep House, Deep Dub, House and Leftfield House. It was under the pseudonym M0u53 that in 2015 he released several singles and EPs ON Audaz Recordings and Hush Recordz. In 2016 he changed his stage name to Ritz, and since then he has worked with many national and international publishers such as ARTS, Blossom Kollektiv, Hypnotic Room, Open Bar Music, Plastic City and many more. He rarely does DJ sets and when he does, it is on special occasions using only his own music. Great to have him back at Piston. First up we have the deep urban grooves of Bronx 476.9625 MHz. Smooth beats made up of punchy kicks and soft, shuffling percussions deliver a nice rhythmic flow. Warm chord pads ebb and flow through the sound as melodic elements shine through while the chunky bassline keeps the low-end grooving beautifully. The narrative is made up of various NYPD dispatch recordings which is where the title of the track emanates from. A real nice, flowing groove that will not disappoint. Awe is a fine slice of deep house goodness. The track mesmerizes with its soft, glowing and warming sounds which are led by a tight rhythmic drum section. Hypnotic arpeggios cascade up and down as those warm chords weave effortless through the groove. A totally immersive experience that will keep the late-night session moving, not to be missed. Next up we have the bouncy club style grooves of It's What U Think About U. Upbeat drums will force you to move as a deep, subby bassline shudders the foundations. Swirling pads create a rich, captivating atmosphere which is given a soulful narrative thanks to sublime spoken word which comes through on the break. A divine slice of deep house that is a must have, no doubt. Whatever rounds up this superb EP and does it in style. A silky smooth and sophisticated groover, this one will offer lots of movement to the dancefloor. A solid, tight drum arrangement leads the way as crispy hi hats and interesting percussions set the rhythm loose. Warm chords sweep across the track, drawing us in while soft vocals add character. A wonderful cut that will be a welcome addition in any crate.
