The latest release on Nikko.Z's Dopamine Music welcomes Simos Tagias back to the label for a brand new EP entitled 'Fatalism'. The Greek artist has been one of his country's brightest stars in progressive house with a discography that features releases on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Movement Recordings, Proton Music and Sound Avenue. Now fresh off an EP for D-Formation's Beatfreak Recordings, Simos makes a welcome return to Dopamine with a highly anticipated EP.
Comprised of two tracks it's the title piece 'Fatalism' which leads the release off. Putting your anticipation on high, a bed of warm beats and buzzing tension sets the stage for a full, driving groove and hip swinging rhythms. Stellar effects add an astral charm as the first act builds, while fragmented melodies and waves of noise are gently teased as the main break commences. Furthering the otherworldly vibe of the track is a wave of fresh designs which create a second act bridge, commanding your full attention and saturating your pleasure centres, before a timely build sparks a heady finale.
Rounding out the EP is the equally stunning 'Fake Society'. Spacious yet dramatic, it's a brooding storyboard that takes you into the dramatic depths of cosmic techno. Anchored by a pulsating groove, it's momentum climbs methodically as astral motifs and electric hooks further it's mystical narrative. Two interwoven themes work symphonic magic across an expansive break, creating a highly effective vortex of melody and colour. Mystically charmed as it strips down before a storyboard of effects catapults the piece into an epic final act. It rounds out two stunning creations from Simos who has further reinvented himself here and delivered one of the summer's must have releases.
