Jackie Jaxx is a Guyanese singer, emcee and songwriter. The artist, known for 'controversial' high-energy live performances and 'powerhouse' vocals, describes her music as a 'contemporary' blend of Dancehall, R&B, Reggae & Electronic music.Born Jackie Alicia Hanover on April 28, 1990, she emerged in Guyana at 19, as a guest performer at the 2010 United for Haiti Benefit Concert. Her debut performance; a soulful rendition of Destiny's Child's 'Stand Up For Love' received cheers of encore from the audience and earned her a spot in the entertainment section of every local newspaper the following day. The performance also caught the attention of singing/producing duo, Charmaine Blackman and Bonny Alves of the popular Guyanese Yoruba singers’ band who later recorded and released the songstress’ first single, ‘Festival Time’.The track went on to receive nationwide airplay as a successful entry in the 2010 Carib Soca Monarch competition and Jackie was subsequently recruited by the Heatwave Reggae-Soca Fusion band. She performed as a lead singer of the group at major events in Guyana over the next three and in June of 2013, parted ways with her bandmates to pursue a solo career. By December of 2014, Jackie Jaxx had made herself a household name among Guyanese worldwide. In April of 2016, the versatile artist released her first ballad, 'Guyana', a remake of the 90s hit 'Oh Guyana by D'Ivan' as a dedication for the country's 50th anniversary. The song, an instant hit, went on to become one of the most-played local singles of 2016 and she has since traveled to several islands and a number of US states to perform the rendition. Also, in 2016, Jackie teamed up with Dave Winnel & Armada Music who commercially released a remix of her 2014 Dancehall single, 'Money'. The track debuted on Love and Hip Hop and has since produced 7 other mixes including a deep-house ‘inferno’ by Matt Wattkins. Jackie is currently working on her first EP which will be out in April of 2017.
