Hyper is from the UK and was a pioneering force in the Breakbeat scene, releasing groundbreaking, critically acclaimed and award winning compilations such as Y3K, Wired and Bedrock Breaks. He’s toured the world extensively from China to Russia, to Australia to Japan to the US (where he currently resides). He’s played nearly every major festival across the globe from Glastonbury to Roskilde to Fuji Rock and has topped the Beatport charts and won awards with his sometime co-writers Beatman and Ludmilla.
His music has featured on more movie trailers, video games, TV shows and ad’s then is possible to mention here but Bladerunner 2049, Borat, Everest, Bates Motel, Orange Is The New Blackand The Leftovers are a fair representation of his CV. He is also currently working on a forthcoming Porsche advert.!
Most recently, Hypers music was snapped up for the hotly anticipated video game Cyberpunk 2077 sparking renewed interest in this evergreen producer who’s still turning out expertly produced music since his first production in 2001 (Some 7 albums ago). Now however, his sound is bigger, darker, more dynamic and cinematic as he prowls around the 100 bpm mark, slowing things down and layering guitar distortion over his electronic sensebilities for a grungier, more lo slung sound. His willingness to experiment with strings also saw the re-interpretation of his album Lies using orchestration rather than traditional electronic remixes. Symphony Of Lies is a must hear….
2019 looks like being a big year in the life of Guy Hatfield. He’s settling in to a new life in Seattle and taken on 2 film scoring roles (something he’s always wanted to do) with a third pending, while preparing to release his first new solo material in more than a year… Watch this space...
